Interview conducted on October 7 of 2016, during the XII Congress of the Latin American Association of Communication Researchers, in Mexico City. Silvio Waisbord is a Sociologist from the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina), Doctor of Sociology from the University of California (United States), and Professor of the School of Media and Public Affairs at the Gorge Washington University. Some of his prominent works on media policies include Latin politics, global media (with Elizabeth Fox, 2002); Vox populista: medios, periodismo y democracia (Vox Populist: media, journalism and democracy, 2014); and Media movements, civil society and media policy reform in Latin America (with María Soledad Segura, 2015).
