COEXISTENCE OF CHURCH AND STATE IN COLOMBIA DURING THE 19TH CENTURY. A REVISION BASED ON THE CONSOLIDATION OF THE FAMILY CONCEPT, THE IDEA OF FEMININITY AND THE SLAVE PROBLEM A REVISION FROM THE CONSOLIDATION OF THE CONCEPT OF FAMILY, OF THE IDEA OF FEMINITY AND THE SLAVE PROBLEM

Abstract

The present reflection article proposes to examine the tensions that existed in Colombia, during the nineteenth century, and in the midst of the partisan struggles between liberals and conservatives, to define both the concept of nation (lay or catholic) and the conformation of the family understood as a core fundamental of society. Likewise, it is proposed to revise the sanction of slavery manumission laws in the midst of the struggle between Church and State. Finally, the social and demographic role assigned to women will be analyzed.
