It seeks to understand the social, economic and institutional factors that have influenced the overall sustainability of community radio stations in the department of Nariño - Colombia. After twenty years of legal birth of these media persist efforts to listen to local voices within an ideal of democratizing communication. Therefore, it was necessary to investigate organizational arrangements and management that have allowed them to stay in time. Through a situational analysis with focus groups was evident that these social organizations have survived with limited financial resources to operate, in some cases directing its efforts from an emerging communication project and a relative acceptance by audiences that have not yet become part active in this project.
