Pathological sign in images and change in social emotions
Main Article Content
In the context of digital culture, the image has undergone a rapid and profound shift that impacts individual psychology and collective awareness. For this reason, the research explores the symbolic composition of images with pathological signs related to environmental catastrophes and the future of humanity disseminated on the web. A qualitative study with a phenomenological-hermeneutic approach was conducted to understand the symbolic fields and content of images with pathological signs. The review identified 89 images classified from a lower to higher level of negative content, leading to the conclusion that their frequency of exposure influences the intensity of positive emotions and the emergence of an emotional state that hinders viewer dissociation.
