Intellectual production in the field of arts and its function and valuation in the university (Comments on the paper "Acknowledgement of artistic production in the Universidad del valle" written by Héctor González, professor at the music school of the Universidad del Valle).

Abstract

This article with an addendum arises from the discussion about the nature and specificity of intellectual production in the field of the arts, understood as research in arts, creation and artistic production, and its assessment according to the regulations and taxonomies established for this purpose at the national level and inside the Universidad del Valle. The following is a comment that reacts to the ideas expressed in this regard by Professor Héctor González, from the Music Department of the Faculty of Integrated Arts and former president of the Scoring Committee of this Faculty. The purpose is to complement what was exposed by Professor González, deepening the understanding of the historical, social and cultural context that today determines the function of intellectual production in the field of arts and its relation to the scientific and epistemological field at the university.
