The politics and aesthetics of the “non-represented popular” – An approach to the popular uprising in Cali, through the ideas of Jesús Martín Barbero

In this article, three of the ideas exposed by Jesús Martín Barbero, related to the concepts of city and violence, are resumed. These ideas are linked to one of the thesis presented in his book De los medios a las mediaciones (1987). Through this relation, plus the references to key authors, such as Henry Lefevre, and the participant observation of some demonstrations, the author proposes a reflection on the popular uprising in Cali and the aesthetics of the anti-monument to Resistance, build during the outbreak of may 2021.
