This document gives an account of the meanings built on the popular anti-mining and oil consultations in the Colombian media during 2017. The research decides to situate itself from the media industries, because it assumes them as leading cultural agents in the elaboration of worldviews. From a qualitative approach, the project analyzes the conceptions, values, prescriptions and prospects, generated in the computer representation of one of the mechanisms of citizen participation contemplated in the Political Constitution. From the analysis of qualitative content, establishes the relationships of causality, necessity, proximity and certainty, generated in national, regional and alternative media bets. The document reveals the coexistence of dissimilar symbolic universes at the moment of explicitly or implicitly stating the term Popular Consultation and, in the end, provides a sociocultural view of the visibility given the political figure by the media.
