Young black people from Guapi (Cauca region, Colombia), who live in Cali, configure sensitive sound scenes to establish modes of sociability and political subjectivity. By employing empirical research, this paper highlights the voices of young “Guaripeños” (people from Guapi), aiming to propose a cartography of the music in the “diaspora” between Cali and Guapi. Guided by discussions that link cultural studies to communications research –namely, reflections of musical production– we aim to contribute to the research body on the reconfiguration of territories through musical scenes, the emergence of sociality, and the rearrangement of music market. Considerations within this perspective allow a progression in the incipient field of cultural policies in Colombia, currently focused on functionalist conceptions of communication that influence institutional management.
