Photography has changed dramatically, mainly as a result of the introduction of digital culture. Despite the fact that this transformation is not entirely radical, it does require new forms to assume the medium, as both photography and digital culture merge one another in hypermedia environments. Hence, it is important to consider other ways of analyzing photography, going beyond visual parameters. For this reason, it is necessary to review and compare various researches that have studied photography by contemplating its social practices and uses throughout history, contributing to assume photographs not only as mere images, but also as social incidents. This process will facilitate the study of photography in contemporary times.
